Ford 9N's were produced from 1939 to 1942. Ford 2N's were produced from 1942 to mid 1947. Ford 8N's were made from 1947 to 1952. The Ford Golden Jubilee/NAA were made from late 1952 through 1954. After this comes the 'Hundred' series of Ford tractors which were made till 1964. Here is a link to ID The N Series Tractors: http://home.att.net/~jmsmith45/identify.htm You will have to cut and paste that one in the window of your browser. Below is a link to help ID the later models. You can try this: Open the fuel valve 2 turns for 10 seconds then close it. Try and start the tractor. Will it run for longer now? If so you can be pretty sure that the problem is that the float is not closing. May be grit, or the float may not be floating or misadjusted... I would clean all three screens in the fuel line (if it is a 9N). I would flush the tank and rebuild the carb making sure that I cleaned the heck out of all passages and replace everything including the throttle shaft (which are known to wear out and leak air). PS DO NOT LEAVE THE FUEL SHUTOFF VALVE OPEN! Yes I was yelling. If you do have a piece of grit preventing the needle from seating, it is possible for the fuel to gravity feed from the tank to the carb and then up through the manifold and in through the open valves to the cylinders. Fuel does not compress and you will bust something good.

Minus two kids, we traveled light with only the youngest in tow. As long as a pool was at the end of our destination she was easy to please unlike the other two who have a multitude of requirements to travel with mom and dad. Amana Colonies served as a respite where we ate a family style lunch that sustained us with more food than could reasonably fit into our ample physiques. The show at Ankeny
