If you own the ground you are baling on, or custom bale for other people, it can be quite profitable. However in my area it is getting harder every year to get hired help to bale. When I was a kid growing up, thats how I made my money all summer. The kids today would rather get an easy clean job at McDonalds rather than sweat a little. Equipment is very expensive, and maintenance can eat you up if you have older equipment.Another major problem is the weather, which can destroy your crop if it gets rain on it after its down. A lot of people today have gone to the large round bales due to labor, and storage concerns. Just my 2 cents.
