Didn't go to the dealer to look yet. Figured my time would be better spent to first pour a couple of beers down a neighbor's throat who is a salesman at the local case/IH dealer. He told me to figure to pay 400-600 bucks more in the local area because small balers are not common and transport from other areas would be at least 300 for minimum distance. Not much working on prices I guess. He's gonna look at the balers the other dealer has and see if they are worth the asking price and try to get a feel for how much I can haggle (he's in the same oldtimer tractor club as the owner of the other dealership). Older I get, the less stress I like.... What I've seen on ebay is interesting balers going for around 1300-1500 bucks. Asking price locally for the same model is 1800... Kind of a no brainer............. One tip the guy gave me... Not to buy anything from a dealer that they don't have their sticker on as a future advertisement. Also said that if it had the sticker (which says they'll stand behind it), I could possibly knock 30% or so from the price if I'd tell them to remove the sticker and sell it to me as/is and not look back.

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
