That's understandable. Like I said, the husks are hard to chop when dry. Our 3000 has a sharpener mounted on it too, but I need to remove the grinding wheel or else it'll come off the steel back plate out in the weather, and we're down to our last one now. A replacement was $50 a couple years ago already.
Still chops much better than our neighbor's Gehl did when we bought from them a few years ago. I think they even put in a screen, but the husks were still a major problem. Our corn was dried down a little more than theirs and it chopped fine with our old Fox. They tried everything to adjust theirs, and it just couldn't cut it.
