batteries

I have an older Allis HD 6G crawler that I own with a neighbor. Has never started without a charger on it so I hooked it up and noticed that it was not drawing any amps whatsoever. It would turn over a few times while on the charger but never started. My neighbor said that when I would turn it over the ampmeter would move but then nothing after that. Does this mean that I have bad batteries that will not take a charge any longer. Any help out there?
