I never had one and I'm not likely to ever own one because I don't bother much with green things... but I read a lot about them on other forums. As you say, the FWD issue was the biggest one. Some due to cracking and I think some due to it simply being an inadequate engine for the application... though some will say they have 10K hours on one. The ones that don't get the hours on them will tell you're they're frightfully expensive to repair... and somewhat given to head/head gasket issues... needing new headbolts, etc. I've never seen too many comments that would regard the 619 in the same league as say the 404, 414 or 466...
On the other hand, if someone is just playing around with a 5020... the engine choice is probably more about novelty at this point rather than practicality... so it probably doesn't really matter that much.
