I didn't want to hijack rrlund's post so I'm venting alone. My loader tractor, the trusty 630 (till now) has had something floating around in the gas tank, plugging the hole every so often. Then I blow it out and she's fine for a few hours.
I'm going to pull the carb and take it to Robert's after the first of the year, so while it's laid up I can clean the tank and replace the loader seals. But first I'd like to get all the close up loader work done, cleaning our 20" of snow away from the tight spots that I don't want to get into with the 1086 and the Gnuse.
Well, this afternoon she acted up again, so I grumbled and limped her to the shop and backed it in. I just about had it parked in the right spot and it died. I hit the starter button and I had silence-nothing. The lights work fine so it's just a jiggled wire under the dash, but Geez, I was a little frustrated anyway, now this. I decided to go to the house to have coffee I no sooner was in the door when my wife said in a frantic voice HONEY, THE MICROWAVE SHOOTS FIRE. Nuff said! Jim

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
