cracked block

Have a 13 inch crack in a block in a Farmall B. I would like to save the original by stitching.(drilling and studding overlapping holes). Anyone have any ideas what would be the best kind of sealant to use on the studs? Also would it be a better idea to just stud 3 inches on each end and just weld the rest, preventing it from running? What is your feelings? Thanks in advance.
