My old 80 Chevy pickup wore out two throttle cables in it,s life. When they got a lot of miles and were worn, they would stick and hang the throttle open. That little braided steel cable would wear a tight groove in the plastic housing where the cable would stick and hang the throttle wide open. Only a big deal if your too stupid to turn off the ignition when that happens.
