I think we have all been there. Ken has some good advise. I took my tractor to the neighborhood tractor repair guy to rebuild (I'm deathly afraid of engines, so I let him ear the kid's college money...). Ended up I had a cracked block that wasn't bothering much at the time, but he got a replacement for $400. Probably a similar sized tractor, IHC 300. Anyhow, I got the whole engine rebuilt for $2000, block, kit, bearings, and he worked on the carb. That's maybe what the tractor would sell for - but, I know it has a sound engine now, and am familiar with the critter, so why buy a different one for $2000 and end up with the same repairs facing me? You can patch & putter on what you have, but I'd be scared of throwing good money after bad. Could propbably rebuild it yourself with a salvage engine block & head... --->Paul
