So here's my dilemma...I have a 1955? 300U with Davis loader and hoe. No power steering, TA likely shot. Motor runs ok, but there are clutch and/or tranny issues that will be a mystery until the tractor is split (paid $1300 for it). I also have a 1961 340U with a badly stuck basket-case motor. No TA, has power steering, solid tractor (paid $500) Plan A was to free the motor and grin like a son-of-a-gun when it ran, swapping the loader and hoe over. Plan B was to replace the 340's c-135 but I'm having trouble finding a running motor for less than the cost of a rebuild. These tractors are in two different locations now, so I can't even eyeball them for compatibility. Grasping at straws but wondering if the power steering unit from the 340 would fit on the 300? Will the front-mount hydro pump from the 300 fit on the 340? These are the things that keep me awake at night. I'm in over my head but have a good mechanic I trust. Trying to keep my costs down or I'd be making payments on something 50 years newer. A friend said sell 'em both and start over, but I am intrigued by the thought of owning a good running tractor with loader and hoe for $2500 or less, and I don't like giving up. I'd appreciate any thoughts or constructive comments.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
