Just clean it good with detergent. If they were so toxic, they wouldn't put them in the landfill. I've seen 40 yard containers full of batteries sent to the dump. They run a bull dozer over them to destroy them and the tractor driver sometimes complains of them catching on fire LOL. That's the 6 volt lantern batteries that do that LOL.
