I seeded some rye mix into some very poor soil last year for a guy at almost 20 lbs an acre near the end of May. It was patchy. I used a brillion sure stand using the big seed box. The seed was small enough it ran out when stopped.
The guy had stripped the topsoil to use elsewhere and was planting into the clay till that was left. I disked it 3 times before and picked ledge rocks as much as I could.
His stand was patchy, I never got paid. Two unhappy people.
