After 12 long years and over 1000 good deals I finally got royally took on ebay.
In January I won a rebuilt 806-1256 IH injection pump on ebay.It was shipped promptly and from the outside it appeared to be a rebuilt pump so I left feedback.
Its been a hectic year and I didnt install it until recently. The tractor wouldnt start so tore the pump down and heres what we found.
It had the wrong type automatic advance and there were no o-rings on it.It had the wrong cam ring,it was totally worn out,and was in backwards. The transfer pump was in backwards.
The pump head was a rusty piece of junk and the delivery valve is stuck in the head. The snap ring that holds the head was in 3 pieces,The shut off clip was off and laying in the bottom of the pump.
I knew I was going to have to eat the $500 on this one as its been so long so we salvaged what little we could of the ebay pump and built one using pieces of several other old pumps that were laying around. My old pump was busted up so bad that it wasnt rebuildable and had no core value, but did have some useable parts.
The moral of the story is quickly inspect what you win to see if its OK.The guy that sold me this had mostly all good feedback so I felt that it was OK but it wasnt.

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
