Gotta quit that sometime. Starter has been acting up on my tractor (sol not kicking in) for a long time. Had a replacement given to me several months ago that I cleaned and looked over (everything tight and brushes almost new in length). Bench tested good. FF to yesterday @20 degrees and starter just wouldn't kick in. Been putting the swap off because I figured if I ran into problems I'd be stuck. Stuck anyway with the swap starter STILL on the floorboard and only a 6 inch crescent wrench and a screwdriver. 25 minutes later, tractor starts like a dream. Only thing is it sounds like an old chrysler starter (best explanation) like metal to metal or a rusty hinge somewhere. Think that's just a noise it's gonna make? when taking the starter apart for checking/cleaning, there was no rubbing or resistance.
