jd, from owning a shop and working on these cars, there are a lot of things i just shake my head at. the auto mfr's need to get the designers out in the field and work on them when problems develope. the windstar rear axle issue is a dangerous problem. you would not want your wife and kids going down the highway and losing the axle due to a poor design. we just had a 2008 nissan maxima in the shop, 35k on the odometer. both floor pans on the front driver and passenger foot wells are completly rusted thru. no other corrosion anywhere else under the vehicle. nissan has yet to issue a recall. late model dodge dakota pickups, the lower radiator support rusts thru, and that portion holds the radiator and a/c condenser in the truck. full size buick sedans with sunroofs, the water drains for the sunroof drain internally into the rocker panels and fill with water, the water gets into the passenger compartment. we end up re-routing the drain hoses out behind the front wheel splash shields.
