Glad you came out on top. In CO a new law was put in place a couple of years ago that if we allow any registration to expire we are charged an extra $25.00 per month that it is expired up to a maximum of $100 when we finally do renew it. I found out by surprise one day when I went into DMV to renew the tags on my stock trailer before I headed out to the county fair the following week. The trailer that normally cost me $30.00 a year was going to cost $130. I politely asked for my paperwork back and told the clerk that I was not interested. She asked what I planned to do to use the trailer and I told her that I am going to hook on to it and go on expired tags. So far nobody has noticed I guess. Talking to other people that have found them selves in the same position the common practice it to sell it for $1.00 and run the title through and then buy it back for the same $1.00 and then tag it. I don't mind paying my taxes on my vehicles and trailers, but adding a late fee on registration on a trailer that I only pull a few times a year and forget about during winter when it just sits kind of rubs me wrong. Oh well.
