I usually lose any argument with the local DMV, but finally won one today. A while back I realized I'd put the wrong renewal sticker on one of my old trucks. Wrong month and the stickers are coded so can't leave it that way. I called up the DMV and they said no problem, come get another one. So I did and it suprized me when the lady said no charge for the replacement sticker. Which came stuck to a new copy of the registration. I thought wow, something from the DMV for free. Can't beat that. First time I'd left that office with a smile in years. So yesterday we had our car cleaned and they threw away everything, including the registation. No problem, I stopped by DMV again and asked for a replacement registration. She said that will be $3 please. I said but the sticker was free, and it came with the registration. She said yes, that's right. You should have said you needed a new sticker. So I said I was pretty sure the sticker might be lost too. She smiled and said I thought so, here's your replacement sticker (stuck to a new registration). Have a nice day.
