Jim,
The failure of the temperature tracking data has been known and discussed for a long time. For the data to be accurate, the temperature measuring devices would have to be in exactly the same locations, without any changes to the environment in the area of the devices throughout the study period. They'd have to be read using a process that hasn't changed since they were installed. They'd have to calibrated to the exact precision that they had when the measurements started. The number of tracking devices could not be any different from the beginning to the end of the study. The calculation formulae used in the calculations would have to be static, and the reliability of the interpretation of the data would have to be without question.
None of those factors (nor many others) remain constant. The whole temperature rise thing is suspect at best.

The advice is timeless... so although it isn't necessarily antique tractor related, it will be prominently displayed in our archives to honor those who have the courage to ask and those who have the courage to respond in an honest, positive manner.
