Sounds fishy to me. I would hope Cummins would be a little smarter than trying that. There are millions of 88' and older Cummins engines still running. I know of a ton of 350 and 400 Cummins still working for a living in my area. Not to mention tractors and industrial equipment. I'm not a huge Cummins fan anyway, but that would kill it completely for me.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
