I have a SMTA with a non working TA. Works fine in the high range just not in the lower one. I see a lot of these advertised with "bad TA" so I am wondering if this is a common problem. If I don't fix it is it likely to start slipping in high range? I have seen kits to eliminate the TA but don't know if they are any cheaper than fixing the TA. Also see heavy duty TAs advertised for these. If this is a common problem is the heavy duty the way to go? This will be used as farm tractor, will not be used a lot on heavy loads. I have also seen adds for heavier parts to put in a regular TA. Is this the way to go? Don't know how expensive it is to overhaul the Ta, see rebuilts for about $400. Since this is my first experience with IH with the TA am relying on all your years experience. ONe thing I notice on this tractor is the platform seems a bit small when you have th live PTO lever on one side and the TA lever on the other.

Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
