Yes, the 123 will fit on the "B" with one minor setback. All of the power units that I have seen have the starter right underneith the oil filter with the bendix end of the starter facing rearward. The tractor starters mount in the bellhousing with the bendix facing forward. The power unit engines have a half moon shaped cutout on the back side of the block to make room for the starter. This cut out section doesnt have a bolt hole location to bolt the engine to the bellhousing in that spot, so you will be missing one bolt. I have seen one of these engines mounted on a "A" tractor and he didnt seem to have any troubles with it in spite that it was missing one bellhousing bolt. Other then that, it will bolt in. I am restoring a 1940 "A" and used the oversize piston kit which will convert the original 113in. engine over to a 123in. engine. Hope this helps. Steve T

Oil Bath Air Filters - by Chris Pratt. Some of us grew up thinking that an air filter was a paper thing that allowed air to pass while trapping dirt particles of a particles of a certain size. What a surprise to open up your first old tractor's air filter case and find a can that appears to be filled with the scrap metal swept from around a machine shop metal lathe. To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
