Model A Year?

A friend gave us a Farmall mode "A" but I cannot find the serial numbe rto determine the year. I've looked on the seat supports and about everywhere else. Can anyone tell me exactly where it should be and if its stamped in the metal or is a tag with numbers stamped on it? Is there any other way to determine the year of an "A"?
