Click Means Bad Solenoid or Starter?

I bought a well-used IH 300 Utility last winter. A couple times in cold weather I went to start it and it would just "click" but not turn. Since I was only using it once a month or so, I just assumed it was the battery -- so I hooked up the battery charger and that took care of it. On a later occassion, when it just "clicked" and I turned the key a couple of times (maybe I turned the key a little harder!), much to my surprise, it cranked. Now, after having no "clicking" problem for months, it started fine in the afternoon but just "clicks" the same evening. After hours of battery charging, still just "clicks." The fairly loud "click" is coming from the solenoid switch which, at least on mine, is mounted on the right side of the cowl (below the throttle control) remote from the starter. Does this sound like I just need to replace the solenoid or does the fact that its "clicking" mean the problem is more likely in the starter itself? Is there some "fits-all-12volt-solenoid" that will work on this machine? Who sells it? Thanks very much for your thoughts. Bob
