I have a question on timing the mag on a Regular. When you set the timing to the flywheel mark, where should you have the advance lever set-fully retarded, fully advanced or somewhere in between? the manual says to line up the marks on the breaker housing cover, but I cant see any marks on any of the mags I have. I have it set now with the lever fully retarded, impulse pawl disengaged, flywheel mark centered in the inspection hole as the points are just starting to open. I think it is retarded too much with the impulse working because it won't start unless I spin the crank fast. It feels like it fires past full compression. I don't like having to spin the crank to start it. I believe that if it is set correctly it should start by just pulling up on the crank. Can someone give me a hard and fast procedure or am I stuck with trial and error? I am a little afraid of advancing it too far and having it kick back. My F-12 starts real well, but I had to do it by trial and error.
