Is T/A worth it?

I have a 400 diesel with a torque amp. The t/a does not work, does nothing when you pull the lever, a new one is $800 at the IH delar. Do you guys think it would be worth it? I have herd from various people that they are hard to keep working and need constant adjustment. I have about 15 acers that i work with the tractor, and ive been thinking about pulling it next summer. Also, if anyone has any tips on pulling, it would help.
