Galvanized rims?

In many discussions about painting, colors, etc. it was mentioned that Farmalls originally had galvanized rims. Hence rims should be painted with Argent Silver to match the appearance of galvanized steel. However, on the rims of my '48 Super A I could not find a single trace of zinc, neither on the front rims nor on the rear rims. (And I have no reason to believe the rims are not original.) Were the rims really galvanized? And, if so, should we not go for re-galvanizing them instead of using some paint that only imitates the original finish?
