My Super A burns oil. I use it mainly for cutting grass.Once it has fully warmed up and run under a load, it does not seem to burn oil as heavily. The oil pressure also decreases, however. Should I assume that the oil rings are bad? My late father in law had the tractor rebuilt in 1974.I use 30 or 40 wt non detergent oil. I am reluctant to use any of the oil additives that are supposed to reduce oil burning.Should the rings need replacing along with the pistons and sleeves, can this be done without taking the whole engine apart? When it comes to serious engine work I consider myself a novice and do not have a large amount of special tools. Is this something that is best left to an expert? Any opinions on the video tapes available? Thanks for reading this and for your response.
