Forgot to mention- Dad traded his four year old 656 and 311 plow on that new 1256 and new 560 6 bottom steerable plow for $6000 difference. The 656 was a little over $5000 new in '65. His was one of the first ones out. List price on the 1256 was about $10200 as I recall. He also bought a new 815 combine that fall which was another awesome IH machine. It listed for about $17000. I never will forget those years, that was some of the best times of my life concerning farming. Dad was also in the fertilizer business and bought a new Big A three wheel floater that spring. At that time there were only 200 of these machines in existence. He was really in debt at that time. That money would almost buy a new 4wd diesel pickup today.
