Well, my simple top end job has become more involved. Thanks to all for the tips on my radiator/rod bearing question. My H has made an unpleasant grinding sound when starting occasionally so while doing the top end I pulled the starter to examine the flywheel ring gear. It is definitely worn (badly in several areas) and the starter gear itself shows some damage. Gonna split the tractor and do the right thing and replace stuff. I think I can split the tractor OK and I know about the hidden bolt thru the starter hole. Any tricks to getting that flywheel gear off and the new one on?? IT manual says heat the new one to 500 F ..will a propane torch work..then what?? Tap it on hot?? I know this isn't rocket science but I'd rather not screw it up. Debating on doing clutch at same time. Thanks!!
