I've got my H, M and 300U all switched to 12 volts and about once a year they start getting the symptoms you discribe. I put in new points and condenser and the problem is solved. If you don't know when the last time your tractor had new points and condenser I would try that since it doesn't cost much. A bit more expensive problem could be a coil going bad. When they go bad they often work until they get hot, then they don't work very well. You may also want to make sure you're getting enough gas to the carburator. When I got my 300U it had enough junk in the gas tank to partially plug the outlet from the tank.
