more help with lights on a Cub

Yesterday you guys helped me with my lights problem on my 53 Cub. Last night I checked the fuse and it was OK. The bulbs seem to be blown, I tried lighting them directly and got nothing. But, I found one of my battery cables was a little loose on the - terminal, do you think the loose cable could have produced a surge of power which in turn blew out the lights but didn't affect anything else? (it's a possitive ground system). I will replace the bulbs, but don't want them to blow again, I didn't notice the amp meter when this happened, all happened so fast. Anything else to check before I slap on new bulbs? Guess this is the fun of owning an antique.

One of yesterday's responses: "First check the fuse on the back of the lite switch and i know it is hard to get to , you will need and SFE 20 fuse . As far as them going from dim to bright well it is posabale that the gen . or i should say the reg. stuck in full charge and it sent to much to the lites , now it could have blowen both lites out and you may need to replace the lites and the voltage reg.. As far as the wiring goes i would get a new harness from case ih and replace it not that hard of a job takes me about and hour and it won.t break you and it is a lot better then stringing a bunch of homemade wires all over the place the only wire that you will have to make is to the rear lite if you have one.
