I belive that the change was made in the latter part of 1950 or the beggining of 1951.

The M&W Gear Company made a live pump that would bolt right on to a Farmall M without any changes required to the front cover or the timing gear.

There is a M&W pump on ebay now, it is listed for a Farmall W-9.

This pump should also be the same one that was used on the M model as well, JUST make sure that the W-9 was not a diesel model (they turn in the opposite direction).
