Sam: From the factory your 300 would have been 6 voly positive ground. Many of them have been changed over the years to 12 volt negative and even some 12 volt positive. TA is just a two speed power shift in any of the 5 foreward and 1 reverse gear. Yes it does free wheel on the low side and don't let it do that. You best get yourself a manual for adjustment of TA and main clutches, close doesn't count with these, not even a little bit. Failure to heed these warnings can get expensive. A lot of folks will try to tell you TA is trouble, however of 5 of them I only had one that didn't go 10,000 hours before rebuild. The problem is people not machine. Fast hitch, again the manual will explain it's uses and maintenence.
