hmmm, not to hijack the thread, but im in the middle of a 12v conversion. Does the solenoid need to be changed to a 12v one? I kinda hope not or that means I have to spend more $$$ All the solenoids I got are laying around from gm starters and they have the bendix linkage built in and would look godaweful if I tried to cob one of those on the side of the starter. Dad might have a ford solenoid laying around. I would imagine that the short duration to start the tractor would not hurt the solenoid, but sometimes these things can be tempermental about volatges, and I sure as heck dont wanna burn up the original, as I'd like to keep it If I have to replace it with a 12v one, so the next owner can convert back to 6v if they want.
