1. check the oil level in the tractor 2. put the trans in neutral and see if the tractor will roll freely 3. gently rocking just means don't push it or pull it with another tractor or vehicle, but put it in highest gear and give it a real shove, maybe get a friend to push also, and make sure you can not see the "fan" turn - - then check back.
