1941 Model A Tire size???

Well heres the deal, Me and my step-dad purchased a running Model A for $500. The tires are dry rotted pretty bad and have a lot of slow leaks. The tires that are currently on there are 13.00 x 24. My Grandpa says they are way oversize, from my research I found 9.5 x 24 is correct size for this model. Am I correct, we are trying to make it origanal as possible. Please let me know what yall run on your Model A. Thanks
