Below is a picture of the factory Auxiliary Control Valve for our 1940 Farmall M with a belly pump. It is a really simple little setup where the valve has a spool that moves up and down with the control rod. It allows true two way action from a system designed for one way implements. Just out of curiosity, what are you trying to use it on? If you are just testing the rams and such on an implement where gravity will pull it down, take off the lower hose on the ram and replace it with a pipe plug with a small hole drilled in it. That way, the other side of the ram will just be filled with air that can move in and out. If the hydraulics are in good shape, it should be able to lift quite a bit. We lifted up our vibrashank with it and it had no trouble.

On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
