Cant recall what is was for, but many people suggested 2 seals, however, the issue with that is the outtermost seal will not see any oil, and therefore will wear out in no time. One could conceiveably pack the area between the seals with chassis grease to keep the front seal properly lubed. However, I would do as Owen suggested. He is dead on when it comes to preserving as much of the shaft from rust as possible. Buying one seals also saves you money, and I doubt using 2 seals really has any benefits, as they see the same were, and the outtermost even more.
