Hi Booch,
It sure sounds like not enough gas to meet the load requirement. Now what might give the restriction. The first thing I would do is take out the in line fuel filter unless you have watched gas pouring out of the line ahead of the carb when cranking the engine to work the fuel pump. The in line gas filter is ok but I dont favor them. Next you need to be sure that you have adjusted the load nozzle needle open to create a richer mixture. Then you should even be able to make the adjustment so rich that it will smoke black. If you cant set that carb real rich(Black Smoke) then you still have main load circuit obstructed. Now remember that the load needle adjustment only affects the engine when throttle is open half way or more. Next test at all spark plug wire ends for at least 1/2 in of nice blue spark. If it is much less then you need to do distributor work till ya get 1/2 in spark. Now from what you said you are choking quite a bit I bet spark plugs are all full of black SOOT. Take them out lay them on a fire brick or something to take the heat and get a small propane torch and pointy flame to burn carbon off do not over heat the adjusting prong but you should get the center electrode light cherry red.
