its not impossible to think they they are both in need of repair. The "cracks" may be superficial as jim suggested, or they may actually be cracks, but not enough to cause issues while on the engine. I would be worried about reusing them as they are tho, as the manipulation of them from taking them off and when retorquing them could be enough to cause issues with the cracks.
