My guess would be the fuel shut off solenoid. If you hold your hand on it you should be able to feel the fuel shut off solenoid click when you switch it on and off. If the 2424 has an electric fuel pump like the 2444 make sure that the pump is still running when ithe engine stops on you. When it fails it usually does not stop the engine as fast as the fuel solenoid does.
