Thanks folks. I checked the voltages at the alternator as dwag suggested. With the batteries fully charged and key off, I have 12.6V at 1 spade of the alternator and nothing on the other. With the key on, I have 4V at the other spade. The concensus is leaning toward replacing it. I replaced the batteries and cables last year, right after we got the tractor. This problem showed up suddenly a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like the alternator croaked.
