Clefus: What happens if you unhitch the plow? Will the hydraulic then lift the hitch? I agree with George these tractor do need to run a bit overfull on hydraulic-transmission oil, but not 5 gallons over. My advice would be change hydraulic oil and filter, and make sure you use Hytran or equivilant. 460 and 560 were very sensitive to wrong oil. These were the first tractors IH used a hydraulic filter rather than a screen, thus that oil must be correct. A good working hydraulic system will eliminate any air with use. A plugged or poor flow hydraulic filter with make toast of a hydraulic pump in less than 5 minutes. The filter is on suction side and a hydraulic pump without oil will last almost as long as engine with no crankcase oil. I suspect your pump is toast, but try the oil and filter first.
