4 terminal voltage regulator

I put a 4 terminal voltage regulator on my 6 volt generator. I have the L,H,D,B light switch. The question I have is; do I connect the "L" terminal from the voltage regulator to the fuse post on the light switch or do I run a wire from the load side of the ammeter from the "Bat" terminal down to the fuse post and leave the "L" terminal on the voltage regulator unused?
