Thanks for the input guys. I am actually not sure which notch is TDC on #1. There are two marks about 1/2 inch apart when #1 is at TDC. Without pulling the cover I can not verify, but I expect there is one for initial timing and one for full advance. I guess I need to know if anyone has seen this and what the value is for each mark. I actually already have a box, electronic conversion and MSD coil. In a turbo engine setting to maximum advance works pretty well for something like a puller. It has to be retarded as boost goes up so if you set for max boost it works out well. By doing this timing is fast at idle for response and a little slow in mid RPM to increase EGT and boost quickly. My engine is not really your run of the mill engine; it will be turning close to 5KRPM at 20+psi if all goes as planned. It is a 4.25 bore, girdle, studs, arias pistons, two disc slipper with steel flywheel. I plan to come out of the hole at around 3500RPM, and it pulls in 4th gear. I hope to add more gear later to get the tire speed up. Sounds pretty good with the big Holset and 4 inch pipe :). Cant wait to hook her to a sled!
