Dear Randy, Pulling out the choke can make a engine run OK only when the problem is in the carb, or between the carb and the head of the engine. (vacuume leak). If the fuel was restricted on the way to the carb, or at the needle and seat, the pulling of the choke part way would only help for a brief moment, as more fuel was pulled out of the float bowl of the carb, with none to replace it. I believe either (as noted below) the manifold has a crack/leak, or there are plugged up passages in the carb. Use a propane torch (hand held small tank-------not acytlene---) with the nozzle tip talken off, to supply a moderate amount of fuel all around the intake manifold. if you find a leak, the engine will perk right up. If this does not help, I would soak the carb, and rebuild it with a kit. Also make sure the coil is not getting hot when operating. if it is, replace it. JimN
