If you look at the other castings on your tractor, you will find the "L" for Louisville on most of them. ALL C's were built at Louisville, white or not. Generally the white tractors, unless someone faked them will have white in most of the out of sight places. Since they were supposed to be repainted red by the dealers, and the dealers did little disassmebly, look for white paint on the rear side of the battery box, on the valve covers, underneath the hood, inside the grille and other out of the way places. Your serial is close, and as Guy says, the exact serial range is not known, but the 47010-54411 is pretty close. During that 3 month period IH produced an average of about 82 C's per day. Yours is about 8 days production prior to the assumed start. The 3 month period is supposed to be (Guy can correct me), Jan, Feb, March of 1950, PROVIDED the numbers are by the calendar year. If by fiscal year, they are I believe, Nov, Dec, Jan, in which case you would have casting codes back to Sept or Oct 1949, so I doubt if yours was painted white. The white could be primer from a repaint. Check and see if you see red under the white, then white under the red. Most repainted tractors had little or no surface preparation, so the red came off fairly easily.
