Tom, I've become convinced you have a bad connection in the cable from the starter relay to the starter. When you cleaned it, you just improved the contact. Unbolt it from the top of the starter. Use two wrenchs, then shiny it up real good with sandpaper, reconnect it with two wrenchs good and tight. For good measure, do the same everywhere with all cables, terminals, and posts. You were probably all over the problem and didn't know it. If the problem continues, take the 6V battery for a test at a parts house, and if you replace it, do so with a bigger amp 6V battery. If you have the problem and the battery tests fine at full charge, then you have a charging problem to solve. RKS
