After i greesed the zerks it seem to stop the leak. or the oil is just below that level. she will never sit on a hill for any kind of time. plus i dont use her to plow. she is gonna be my mowing tractor as the 44 H i bought with an artsway mower 6 foot A372 just for the mower and tires and parts. finally a rod, piston or bearing failed as it is now knocking. It has really good sheet metel and so does my 43 so i might just take the good from the 44 and put it on my 43. As long as i have the deck off im gonna have the blades sharpened and also gonna grease her up good. i will mabey fix the C 152 back to specs using the fire crater pistons or might bump it up to a 169 specs. some one told me the 350 engines guts can also fit in the 152 but im wondering about heat. will the radiator be ok or will i have to go with a 3 row style rad on it. I don't know what im gonna do. but i know my 43 has should have alot of life in it as it holds very very very very good oil pressure even after its hot and at a slow idle. It never goes over the "U" in "run" even when worked. my 44 oil gauge never went past 60 percent and was around 50 percent wide open hot and idleing mabey 25 %. So i knew when i bought her she was gonna go as it would blow bad blue smoke when 1st started and also when you took off under a load. It had really really good power right to the end though. good compression to (125 across). I dont even wanna guess untill i git it apart whats wrong with it). My 43 h is a dist burner and im gonna switch the head and make her a X1 and boost the hp a little. But as far as burning any oil mabey a tiny bit when first started after a long night sitting. after that it dosent smoke at all. Plus i never had to add oil between changes. The rain cap dosent dance at all at idle or under load. but it probally could use the main metering valve turned up a bit, but it has good power and is running around 1900 rpms but i never hold it wide open for extended periods of time its just nice to have the extra power when you are in need of alittle extra. but since i dont work her hard i'll probally leave it and take the extra fuel ecno. She gets to burn shell's 90 octaine gasoline with no alcohol so that helps with timing a little. I was really amazed i got the 44 i bought to run so good as it did as it had a bad bad miss in it. i corrected the valve lash and gave her new electric componits and it ran better. but it never quite ran right under a no load situation and would run better under load. it would burn black and blue no matter how lean i turn down the main mettering valve. I think what has happened is that it has a cracked piston and it finally broke to where it failed completly. I shut it down as soon as 5 seconds after the noise. I think im gonna make a puller out of it just for fun. Like the others said if i get a diffrent engine i wont know what i got so i might as well just rebuild the one i have to the specs i want. that way no one would be able to tell just by looking at it. (sorry for long post)
